Actually Sharia Law isn't interpreted correctly for a big part in the 1st place but still if I a person has a problem with it and destroys it, that's fine with me. Jihad is applied to many things such as anywhere from studying for school to defending your nation. I can see most definetely what you mean though. I'm all ears.

  • The idea is that muslims should prove that the 'progressist' interpretations are not only provisional, that the changes are here to stay, islam never a danger for the non muslim societies. I do not know what you read but Ali Gomaa, Egypt’s Grand Mufti, praised by many as a 'moderate', is honest and tells the truth: “We accept the revisions conditionally, not as the true teachings of Islam but with the understanding that this process is like medicine for a particular time".

  • @superfakerbros Well muslims need much ore to prove that islam is peace. For example the muslim scholars, a vast majority of them, should at least decide that sharia is valid only in the historical context (in the remote past but not today), open the gates of the Itjihad (you need a non trivial change in order to adapt to modernity), apply critical thinking to the basis of islam (critcism of islam, using rational arguments, must not be punishable in any meaningful way) etc

It doesn't mean a literal war.

The self defense so-called claim is fully supported. I have read the Quran and unlike you I have read it as a whole.

  • (continued) Examples abound in hadith: Men, do you know what you are pledging yourselves to in pledging allegiance to this man [muhammad]?’ ‘Yes. In pledging allegiance to him we are pledging to wage war against all mankind.’ - Ibn-Ishaq, p204

"Those present at the oath of Aqabah had sworn an allegiance to Muhammad. It was a pledge of war against all men. Allah had permitted fighting.” - Al-Tabari VI: 138

We deal with a modern attempt to save islam, not existent before the 20th century.

  • @superfakerbros No one minimally familiar with the different islamic traditions can buy this 'explanation'. Indeed the 'lesser jihad' is supported by just one unreliable hadith whilst the 'holy war' has many references in hadiths considered reliable by muslims themselves, like those of Bukhari. Many claim indeed that the 'external jihad' can be only in self defence but again the islamic traditions give them very little support too. The 'self defence' claim is essentially meaningless.

Jihad doesn't mean holy war. It means struggle in the way of God. Such as being a good person, avoiding temptations that are not allowed in your religion, to protect yourself and your family, etc.

  • How can you say that muslims and Christians worship the same God when islam teaches us that infidels 'perverted' the truth, that only muslims understood the true nature of God (Christians among others with their belief in Trinity)? Taqiyya or sheer ignorance? We understand very well islam and do not need your 'guidance' (as a matter of fact many muslims do not understand the real teachings of islam)..ht tp : / / ww w . thereligionofpeace . co m / Pages / Myths-of-Islam . ht m (remove the spaces)
