Motivation generates a driving force that drives the action. The developer, being motivated, have reason to act, and this is the secret! The company must then always encourage the developer, so have motivated and get results.

One of the most effective ways is to encourage the developer feels it is part of the business as well, have prospects for growth, and consequently greater commitment to their roles and involvement in the process. However you must hear it, let him run it, treasure it, and finally, it must be clear, both for business and for the developer, the issue of trust and credibility.
