How to change the seat cushion on a Saab 9-3. Word is it would be best to disconnect the battery before unplugging seat from wiring harness.

I think you'll need power to move the seats; try to hook up a temp. batt.

A friend who told me how to do this said the backs are different. I didn't try because my 9-3 is a convertible, so it's not compatible with a 4-door 9-5 (the seat back on the 'vert has a release mechanism for access to back seat). I think the only difference my friend found was the seat runners & mounting holes don't match. I wonder if you could swap the runners? It might work.

  • That's for the info!

I have two questions: How does one remove the seats when the car battery is removed like at a salvage yard? I found a 9-5 that has nice seats, but can't get at the front Torx bolts. Also, if the seat bottoms AND seat uppers are in rough shape, are the 9-3 and 9-5 seat uppers interchangeable or are they different?
