Video footage from WRAL-TV.

Sen. Josh Stein District 16 representing Wake county speaks against the Republican Senate budget proposal.

The budget is a direct assault on public schools that cuts nearly a billion dollars from North Carolina's public education system.

  • all you hicks in NC don't need no education for shooting M16's in the hills ..a good militia man doesn't need a dentists or healthcare...all that he needs is to be a highschool drop-out and a good cristian ...god bless North CaCa-lina and North Korea ..fuck you all

  • Thank you Senator, for standing up for our education and the programs that support it! We need to preserve our schools for tomorrow!

  • Thank you Senator. You said it better than I ever could. We appreciate your support in Haywood County. Fingers crossed for tomorrow's vote!!

  • Sen. Stein thank you for standing strong on education funding!

  • "I never thought the day would come when we would be looking UP to South Carolina and Mississippi on public education" - classic!!!

    Thank you Senator Stein.

  • Senator Stein -i support you on this. This budget seems clearly designed by the GOP to destroy public education, to further their goal of privatizing education. While they are crippling public education, they have no problem proposing giving public money to families that send they're kids to private school.

The ideology of no taxes is so out of whack, that they are galvanizing around a .01 sales tax and crowing about this victory. I've seen no actual evidence that this tax has cost jobs

  • Thank you, Senator Stein.

  • Forget this budget... schools are already way underfunded. Sarah is watching tv all week in her classes. Some days we are keeping her home because they have no lessons planned this week.
