Are you kidding? Watch the whole section with Frances Sternhagen again. How much more practical can you get than that?? It's all there my dear, the whole panorama of acting possibilities.

@keagleman21 - I loved Sandy's devilish sense of humor! He actually had a warm, human side that he didn't necessarly show to all his students! One of the most remarkable people that I have ever known!!!

@legatofancier For me Sandy had a natural presence. But I do know and agree that Sandy would do any number of things to help a student learn--- and also there was something of the little devil in him that liked to tease people as well and press those buttons. I personally experienced that a few personally memorable times. I agree that he was a wonderful teacher. I learned more from him about acting and life than I can say.

@keagleman21 - Sandy could be intimidating, but I believe that this was his way of commanding your attention. Most of us (his former students that is) would have been apprehensive about working for him. However, remember he was incredibly exciting and powerfully illuminating! I wouldn't trade the experience of having studied with him for anything.

Agreed it took alot of courage to do it on film and looking right at Meisner while doing it. Meisner was a wonderful and amazing teacher, but imposing man. I can imagine even a great actress like Ms. Sternahagen must have felt a little pressure at doing this in front of her old teacher. Like being back in school again, lol. She did a great job.
