This video simply uses the difference between two frames to generate a 3D effect. It was filmed out of the side of a car to create a steady motion along one axis and then processed through DeShaker to smooth the motion path further. The video for one eye is then simply delayed by one frame.

In the long run I'll need to get a 3D camera, but until then this is a nice workaround.

  • Doesn't have anything to do with Pulfrich. It's really 3D, just that the distance between frame 1 and 2 is not only in distance, but also temporal. But since the time passed between each pair of images is tiny very little actually changes in the world. Little enough so that it seems like the two images were identical, just from a different position. Only cars going into the opposite direction create significant problems, since they're moving too fast.

  • Works pretty well! I guess this would be similar to Pulfrich 3-D. Cool video!
