  • did you buy the whole engine? from jc whitney? becouse you can buy a dual carb engine (not sure which size) for $5,000 some dollars. its the biggest engine you can fit into a bug tho.

  • I actually got it from Gene burg, this is a 1776 cc enging, You can definately go bigger. It definately was a hard time getting the engine in. We had to put the carbs on after and drill a few small holes in the wheel wells to adjust the carbs. No other choice....

  • @duanekeats Don't you hate that about doing adjustments?

  • i think it´s nice ! well done !

  • Sweet. Very well done!

  • I just have to say that a 1776 is a good motor. a 110 cam is not much bigger than a 120..just go with a 125.

But you better have a good set of rods and everything built good inside that motor for a 125 cam! If you really want some power..save some money and get a stroker kit. like a 2007 cc , 2110 or a 2276. If you go any bigger you will have to mod the engine tin and the engine compartment.

  • There's a lot to be done to get a type 4 engine into a bug. The tinware all has to be changed and thats no small feat and then there's the flywheel. I was looking into this myself. There is nice power to be had from a type 4 engine, sure, but parts are serious money and you'd build a serious type 1 motor for the same money. As for porsche 3 litres, they're 6 cylinders aren't they? I dont ever remember a Type 4 2.8 or 3 litre. The only type 4 motors Ive seen are 1.7, 1.8 and 2.0.

  • @Bladeserpent bigger than 69mm crank = not 1776...

  • what can I get for $0.00

  • Also what i was saying on what you put in it. You can reach up to 140hp with a 1776cc engine. But if you want a good 90hp or so, go for 044 Heads, 74 or 84mm counterweight/forged 8 doweled crank, w120 cam, lightened flywheel, and have everything balanced. Another route is going bigger, 1914cc, 2110, or 2332. All depends on buggets

  • wow, thats an entire 1200cc's worth of HP more, lol.
