Check out Steve Webb & EXP's live version of this tune. Do a YouTube search, you'll find it.
IMHO, it is the BEST cover of this song I've ever heard including Eric's version. Give it a listen and then decide. I doubt few will disagree.

Did Jimi ever play this live? Its such a killer tune! Eric Johnson plays it, and he said Hendrix's performance on the record is really magical.
