NATO Tiger Meet 2010 Airbase Volkel The Netherlands

The NATO Tiger Meet 2010 started this week at Volkel Air Base. The only Dutch tiger squadron, 313 F-16 Squadron, is hosting and organising this international exercise. During the Tiger Meet, pilots exercise a wide range of scenarios above sea and land. A large number of aircraft with feline emblems -- the requirement for participating in this large-scale exercise -- will be on display at the Brabant air base for two weeks.

More than 50 aircraft from Belgium, Germany, France, Hungary, Italy, Norway, Austria, Poland, the Czech Republic, Turkey and the United States are participating. Spain and the United Kingdom were to have participated, as well, but withdrew shortly before the event for financial reasons.

De vliegers van het Commando Luchtstrijdkrachten en bondgenootschappelijke luchtstrijdkrachten dienen te worden getraind in het vliegen in grote samenwerkingsverbanden. De oefening NATO Tiger Meet 2010 is één van de mogelijkheden om dit grootschalige optreden te trainen.
Tijdens de NATO Tiger Meet 2010 voeren grote aantallen vliegtuigen van verschillende typen gesimuleerde luchtgevechten uit.

I've lived in Leeuwarden for two months in 2010 but during that period there was no open day on the local Airbase. I wanted so badly to see an air show.
