  • Even Biraana Brova Ide by Subbaraya Shastri (his son) sounds like Chatusra nadai because all patterns of 4 or 2 are used in Tisragati... Syama Sastri's laya is deep and subtle.

  • Hah, It is not your fault. Even if you were to sing it to rupakam it would match the cycle. But that said, the song is meant to be sung in thisra gathi adi talam.

3:40 onwards you can see them occasionally put the thala for each other during swarakalpana.

  • I see, I must have been confused due to the speed of which the song is played. Later in the song I was able to pick up its thisra gati, however for the first 2 minutes or so it sounded like rupaka. Thanks for the comment

(and yeah I did mean ignorance... my fault)

  • u mean ignorance. note the talam is tisragati adi talam, not chatusram. but tisram adi and chatushram rupakam can be placer on top of each other and they will match each cycle. so its easy to get confused.

  • excuse my arrogance, but is it not rupaka thalam?

  • Awesome!
