  • This phantom is fantastic! Very impressive for a high school production!

  • All the comments on this video must be from cast members, because proper words do not exist to describe just how dreadful this was. While there were certainly good elements, it was holistically a train wreck. Why doesn't the Phantom know the lyrics? Why doesn't he know how to pronounce monsieur? Why can't the ensemble sing together? Why does this Christine suck at acting? This was nothing short of a disaster and the perfect example of why high schools should not put this show on.

  • The Phantom overacts I believe, he should tone it down, and i think Raoul needed to be in a different staging than he was, it just seems wrong to have him lying on the floor... back to the phantom, he sounds like the cowardly lion when he says 'go now and leave me' :L I think there was potential there but it was directed badly and i think you probably refered to the film too much, hope this helps in some way :)

  • incredible. :)

  • making everything happen, and usually the overworked nature of the position shows through in the final performance. These videos should serve other schools as proof of concept that this show can be done successfully on a high school stage, it'll just be really hard.

Special note: I loved the note at the end. It is rare that high schoolers have a strong enough cast leader or even the presence of mind to give credit where it's due, and to do so in such a production appropriate way is just

  • any school ever successfully puts on a play. So all that said these kids did a bang up job, especially the Phantom, Christine and Carlotta. Many of the most awkward or cringe inducing moments were more a function of shakey blocking or out and out changes to the way things usually flow in this play, like the timing of the reveal in Point of No Return. That all falls on the director, which is not to say they were bad, it's just that usually the director is more exec. producer, in charge of

  • awkward. Any genuine talent that comes to bear is a bonus. (2) Unless you've been involved with one of these shows, you cannot imagine the sheer amount of time and man power it takes to do a simple play, let alone Phantom. Casting, coaching, set building, securing the rights to the music and script, organizing practice around other extracurricular schedules (because drama is always second fiddle if not twelvth) and then working around the missing actors on any given day. I am surprised

  • As an adult who was recently involved in a high school production such as this (different play) I feel uniquely qualified to comment on this... I quite enjoyed it. There is a certain level of forgiveness that must be built into the critique of any high school show because (1) these kids are not professionals. I am surprised by the sheer number of bodies they fielded on that stage, particularly boys. In high school you pray you have enough extroverts to fill the main rolls without looking

  • I don't have any problem with the skill of the actors, they're actually really good for highschool students. But the stage directions are terrible. Why did the Phantom put his mask back on after Point of No Return? Why does Raoul pass out and then the Phantom not threaten his life AT ALL after that? Christine and Raoul should be offstage at the end. And why did Christine return if she had no ring to give the Phantom? Oh and they could have just walked out of the lair in this one...just saying.

  • Very good show! Loved how Mme. Giry smacked Carlotta with a note and how the managers laughed at "Carlotta must to taught to act" then acted surious. Loved how Meg, managers, Raoul are in 'regular' clothes. Don Juan/Final Lair neded work, Phantom needed fedora and Caviler. Act 2 gets an A-, overall show vey good!

  • I don't get it? did Raoul just pass out? why is he just laying there?
