Tara Mazurczyk , Abington Heights

I was born in Lowell, Massachusetts and lived there for about 14 years. Born into a family with unique cultures and personalities, I explored different areas of interest and, at the young age of ten, realized that I truly had a passion for painting. I traveled to many places within New England and found that environments such as the sandy shores of Cape Cod, the thick forests of New Hampshire, and the rocky coasts of Maine inspired me most. The surroundings were vibrant with color and movement, especially in the fall. Marthas Vineyard, however, is what triggered the artist in me as a result of its breathtaking scenery and interesting architecture.
Entering my senior year of high school, I have sharpened my skills of painting and now feel fully able to paint for an audience, an audience who upon viewing my artwork will hopefully be inspired. Landscapes are my expertise. I enjoy nature, and so, I try to capture elements of nature in all the works of art I create. For the most part, my technique of painting is pointillism. I feel that detail is key to making a piece of artwork interesting and eye catching. The technique from close up may look like millions of random dots, but when the viewer takes a couple of steps back, they then realize what the subject matter really is.
My goals for painting are to inspire others with the work I do and hopefully make a difference in their lives. Lately, I have tried to achieve this goal by painting murals for the Abington Youth Center in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, which has just recently closed. It was very rewarding, and I was able to display my artwork on a larger scale. I hope to continue helping not only my community but others as well. Creativity is contagious and must be passed on in order for a society to grow and prosper.
