The Mindless Consumption
In today's society there many people who can follow underneath category America's Mindless Consumption. There are many 18-24 year olds who will consume more than they need. Although, the stereotype is to think a poor college student, it's what some choose to spend their money on that could be considered to be ridiculous. For example, how many college students consume alcohol? According to statistics about 2 out of 5 students consume alcohol. The interesting point of view is not what the effects of alcohol are but how much does alcohol cost? And if you are given so much money why spend it on that? Especially when lots of college students have to take out students loans or depend on financial aide. Many college students today will go to college after high school because it is expected of them. But how many actually go to college to really concentrate on their major rather than what to wear to the frat party Friday night. It is to my knowledge seeing girls go to college to find their MRS. Degree and boys finding themselves in living the "college experience" up to its finest. " It is a suffering created by a culture of indifference, a culture of self absorbed denial, a culture of avoidance whose reigning hierarchies may do anything, commit any atrocity, violate any sanctity as long as the weekends are left free to go shopping and one's attention is available for fashion and football." This quote taken by a college professor helps to explain what the heart of this problem is. People disposing beer cans into the trashcan without even thinking of maybe
recycle. Many college students consider themselves to be liberal but when it comes to the next morning after a party, or their morning coffee they won't think twice in disposing their cups into the trash.
