This was just a silly little snippet of film we took while visiting the Rose Gardens of Portland Oregon. This particular area was the Shakespeare Garden.
The gown is one I made and is done in the style that would've been worn by society ladies around 1885. The frock coat style bodice is velvet, the over-skirt and front vest is a shot silk taffeta, and the skirt is a moire faille bengaline. The striped parasol is an antique, and I made the hat from vintage components.
By no means do I claim this gown to be historically accurate, least of all for the daytime setting, but it is my own work of art inspired by the fashions of the 1880s
The song is "La Vie En Rose" sung by Edith Piaf.
Enjoy! xoxox

  • I want to say thank you to everyone who has commented on this video of mine, both positively and negatively ;->. I apologize for not getting to respond to all the questions posed, since I wasn't expecting such a large response.

    Thanks again, XOXO!

  • Do you mind sharing which patterns you used for the bodice and overskirt. The bodice looks very much like the Truly Victorian 405 - 1872 Vest Basque with a modified stand-up collar and I'm wondering if my suspicions are correct. Thanks so much!

  • @cathale78 Yes, they are TV patterns with some alterations. I can't remember off hand which bodice it was, but it was one I had extended the back on to create the frock coat effect. The one you mentioned would work well too.

  • ... sorry but i think is edwardian! not victorian!

  • @martinywanda

    No, It's Victorian.

You need to do more research, not only in fashion, but general history.

  • Beautiful dress, I love the colour and fabric choices. And, of course, the fact that you're stunning goes without saying. ^^

  • oh! why can't all this gorgeous fashion come back? Women looked much more beautiful dessed like this, even when a woman was not born so graceful she could have the advantage at that time to meke the most of herself and look feminin´and handsome.

  • I'm not trying to be creepy, but you look so gorgeous in that time period. You were born to be in those clothes. So beautiful :D

  • i wonder, and i'm sure you've been asked before, but do you make gowns to sell? or do you make them all for yourself
