You can get stepmania from stepmania(dot)com You can get the simfile from the Bemanistyle simfile database.

what setting do you put it in so you can recover cuz whenever i play i cant recover if i miss a note

There really is no setting for that. Just find a speed that matches how fast your eyes read the notes.
