03 wolfsburg with giac flash and more..live in West Virginia this winter was below freezing and still is to this day no problems starting at all turbo cars sometimes need a couple trys to start thats just the way they are

@mybigblackfriend Will let you know, in a few months it will start getting cold where I live, got the car last december, and I haven't had any trouble starting it.

@brontoe Got a 2001 1.8t, there was a recall on the coil packs, so head to your local dealer and get them replaced (I know its an old post, but heck, free coil packs!).

haha yeah no doubt, i was just wondering cause i dont wanna drop a lot of money for a car then have to keep putting more and more money into it to keep it running properly.
i hear the jettas have a lot of electrical problems and won't really start in the winter when it's 0 degrees fahrenheit,
have you had any problems like that since you've owned yours?

I can't say much, i don't live anywhere near that temperature, i can tell you this much, the mass airflow sensor and the spark plug coil packs are known to go bad in this jetta.

how much do those normally cost to repair not including labor?

well don't replace it if it doesn't need to be. around over 100 dollars. remember ur driving a european car!

@brontoe im assuming you have an mk4 jetta, check your local dealer. there is a recall on the coilpacks

@Omgturboooo yeah as soon as i got the recall letter, my coilpack blew afterwards. cylinder 4 that is. Done and Done! thanks!
