these 2 just raised a litter and all went off to live on their own after they were weined and so pretty much straight away after i seperated them and their babies they were mating, and after this mating ritual , 26 days later on august 3rd 2010 ivory, the darker grey, gave birth to 4 babies, in her previous litter there was 7 (1 died a day after they were born), and she raised 3 boys and 3 girls, 5 of which were golden agouti, bumper was a fab dad, i breed gerbils as a hobby, in this litter, which i hope to have a video of soon, i think there will be 2 golden agouti 1 grey agouti, and 1 like bumper, in this video ivory was a little reluctant to be mating but even so she carried on, i hope for people to post nice comments and ask questions! :D

  • how old are they?

they might never mate so you know. I once ad a pair that never once had a litter, right up until the female died. the male then went with another femae and 1 month later they had their first litter. sometimes you miss the mating. if theyre over 4 mopnths they should have babies soon, dont worry

  • i have a female about 3 to 4 months old and i just got a baby male about 1 month old and they fought so i separated my cage but they could still sniff each other and i put them back together and they look to be fine now but how long till they start mating?

  • @TheH82bu i would say that (if theyre together) , make sure theyre in a large tank to birth and raise in as gerbil pups can fall out of the gaps as they move alot more than people think, its so rewarding to do this, but if the male is 1 month(4 weeks-ish) then he should have still been with his parents until 6 weeks and as he is young i would think in about 2-3 months they will have babies i think due to his age, one of my breeding pair never once has a baby, in 9 months of being together !!!

  • @XBK8when you eat something sweet just wash your hands before taking out your gerbil my gerbil bites me cuz he can smell the chocolate, sweets ect off my fingers

  • I'm looking at some gerbil vids to see what they are like and they look amazing I hope my dad will let me get one for Christmas has anyone got any advice I would apreciate it.

  • Why wont my breeding pair breed?

  • I have 2 pairs of gerbils and i have 2 extra males and females and my 2 pairs have not mated and they are in seasen and and i don't know what there mating seasen is can you tell me?

  • they will probably start mating when the female comes in to season. the male will then probably show signs of wanting to mate. Just keep watching them for signs and they should mate.
