To effectively convey the projects we each are working on, it's best to use generic descriptors rather than naming cells after ourselves.

  • agree 100% on the naming convention.

  • Thank you. We get much more done much faster when we all speak the same language.

  • Here's where we are in our discussion of standardized nomenclature.

    1) Form factor: Vertical, Horizontal, Square or Cubical

    2) Configuration: Series (having one or more neutrals) or Parallel (only energized electrodes).

    3) Style: Plate, Tube, Spiral, Helix, Wire or Mesh.

    4) Extraction Method: Brute force, Resonance, Electron, Laser

I think anyhting more than 4 categories is just getting crazy. My spiral cell would be a CPSR wet cell. Of course there are hybrids too.

  • To specify who's experiments were talking about we could say Crob227's CPS- cell. Roughly a cubical form factor, Parallel config, Spiral plate, leaving off the 4th category if he's still experimenting with extraction methods.

It gives credit to the inventor without taking away from the description of the cell.

  • it is getting abit complex-i thought it worth mentioning that the difference between fuel cell and electrolyser might need to be addressed.

as many people use the term "fuel cell" loosely and apply it to electrolysers, when the true definition of fuel cell -is a device that makes electricity from reactants.

not something that makes gases,or electroplates things.

    wot do you think?

  • I think that's an excellent point. Most people don't like to type out "electrolyzer" though. The most common term being used is WFC. I sometimes abbreviate elyzer. Don't see an easy way around this but to discipline ourselves to use correct terminology.

  • or you can just point to what your talking about instead of trying to sound like an engineer. i think the technical terms are for ego's, whats next, a lab coat? Come on guys lets get down to earth shall we.

  • your right lets use the right names "fuel cell" turns H2 and O2 into electricity, heat & H2O by passing it thru a membrain. what you make is a "electrolytic cells" a name that has been around for over 100year (that how old this stuff is)(it makes H2 & O2 not HHO) the "coil" is an Anodes and Cathodes" and useing stainless steel for them makes chromite, and will kill you and poison the ppl around U when you wash out that yellow water that it makes!! name for all of this should be"Scam" ReportedEPA

  • i disagreed we should call it crop cell .. so to give acknowledgment for those who work hard to achieve this design.. he deseve this for all his hard work.. just as if you would if you invent this cell...

  • i agree with this type of nameing, descriptive and centred so everyone deals with the same terminoligy, it can be very...very..confussing when there are several terms for the same item....LOL.... spiral is what it is..... spiral.

    thom in scotland.

  • the nakes are cool but I still think the inventors should get credit ie. the crobb-spiral still mostly descriptive but meh whatever

  • good job some of us arent science buffs but are shade tree mechanix helps alot
