Binghamton University Fall 2010 Undergrad Commencement Speech by Aaron Gold (Complete Presentation) on December 12, 2010
One of the highest distinctions a student can receive is to be selected as the Undergraduate Student Speaker for Commencement. It is a chance to represent Binghamton University by giving an address that inspires, encourages and reflects the vision and hopes of the Class of 2010. Only one graduating senior was selected to give the address at the University Commencement held on Sunday, December 12, 2010.
Aaron Gold, who received his bachelor's degree in creative writing, spoke on behalf of the undergraduate candidates. Gold, winner of the 2010 Pappy Parker Players Improvisation Scholarship, has been active as a performer on campus, particularly in the comedy arena. He co-founded and leads an improvisation workshop and an on-campus improvisation team—Eddie Kirchner Lives. He also co-formed a campus sketch group, Team Boomsplosion!, and has been performing stand-up comedy since 2007.
A featured member of the Vestal Violators, Rocky Horror Picture Show cast since 2006, Gold has also acted on campus in One for the Road, Love Talker and Dog Sees God. He is a member of the Tae Kwon Do Club, participated in Humans vs. Zombies and was a DJ for WHRW for two years.
Admittedly someone who likes attention, Gold's path will take him to New York following Commencement, where he will pursue a career in comedy and acting.
