  • @CRAZYJACOB2008 it's "supposed" to be about sex, superstition/religion, and oppression, among other things.

  • uhmn well, fuck youtube its garbage. it wont let me post, and its an idiot.

  • deftones have been using clips from this movie as the backdrop to the song cherry waves live lately. it's stunning to say the least.

  • @CRAZYJACOB2008 There isn't really a strong plot it's mostly surrealistic images and bizarre settings a movie to be experienced rather than watched. The best plot I can come up with is a girl named Valerie blossoming into a woman in a repressed atmosphere but going along in her irrepressible way learning about her family, her Granny who longs to be young again and the monster that wreaks havoc on everything. It's a very short movie clocking in at 73 minutes.

  • This is about the same video quality you will get if you rent the DVD.

  • This was apparently a big influence on the music of Trish Keenan and Broadcast. RIP Trish, you will be missed.

  • If you live in the Los Angeles area you are in luck, as next Thursday May 13 @ 8pm the Cinefamily @ the Silent Movie Theatre on Fairfax Ave. near Melrose is showing "Valerie and Her Week of Wonders" on a double-bill with the equally strange and rare "Black Moon" by Louis Malle. It is not to be missed...watching on dvd or youtube is not the same as seeing it projected on a screen.

  • @CRAZYJACOB2008

    many things.

mainly the trasform of a child to a woman and who seeks her sexuality

  • Read Peter Hames essay on the film in his The Czechoslovak New Wave.

The ending seems to be a pagan festival. The priest is imprisoned during it.
