Rokudan a été composé au 17-ième siècle par Yatsuhashi kengyô. Kengyô n'est ni un nom ni un prénom : c'était le titre d'un haut fonctionnaire chargé des musiciens aveugles. Rokudan est le grand classique de la musique japonaise traditionnelle dite sôkyoku (musique de koto).
