A recording of myself playing stage 3 of this ridiculously hard arcade game (it took quite some effort to even get THIS far on one life). Things take a turn for the worse about halfway through the stage, but eh, at least this run wasn't tool-assisted like every other Gradius 3 arcade video on Youtube...

P.S: If you want to make derogatory comments about the way I play, at least have the decency to provide a link to a video of your own run where you do better. Thank you. ^_^

  • This is the farthest I can get on the arcade version of Gradius 3. I don't think the announcer sounds weird... and no, I don't like the Salamander games.

  • ...Funny that I should reply to myself, but I wanted to clear something up. I HAVE played Salamander 2 now, and I liked it a lot; enough in fact to actually buy the PCB. Turns out I had only played Salamander 1 when I was asked this, and I don't like that game at all.

  • Oh my goodness!!!

You made trough Gradius III arcade with 'old-school' set?!

    Thats awsome!

  • If this is as far as you could get count it as a blessing because the crystal rush at the end of level 9 was pure evil, I used to play it in the arcade no continues no pause button.

  • I got the "Psp gradius collection pack" for Christmas, and the Gradius 3 game in it is the ARCADE one. I can say that is the only one of the collection (Gradius 1, 2, 3, 4, Gaiden) which i ALMOST CANNOT GET TROUGH THE FIRST STAGE (i've already finished the first and the second Gradius games btw), and with every other one i reached AT LEAST the second stage on the first attempt. It's obvious that the arcade version is this hard because is supposed to "eat" money, not for real fun.

  • As the Wiiviewer would say, "there's just too much enemy fire to dodge!"

  • I am always astounded that no matter what system, Arcade, Game Boy, NES, SNES, MSX, Konami always delivered great soundtracks to their games.

  • Unless Arcade mode is set, then the difficulty in both are pretty similar. Otherwise, without Arcade mode being set in the SNES version, the Arcade version's harder.

  • "Won't be posting anymore."

    Ok. That's fine.

    "You are not correct."

You can say that as many times as you want, but I know I am correct.

"We should duel IRL. I'll go get the flintlocks."

    Nah, we're done. Later.

  • lmao ok that was a little overkill but seriously. You are not correct.

We should duel IRL. I'll go get the flintlocks.

  • Yeah. But rest assured that if you don't know about the Rank in G3 then you simply can't be right. You are as wrong as can be. Won't be posting anymore.

  • "You can't continue in the arcade version. You can continue in SNES."

The ability to continue has nothing to do with what's going on on-screen. And besides, actually continuing is optional.

"I'm a huge nerd for this genre and series... that's why I keep posting haha"

I don't think we're getting anywhere with this. I say let's call it quits.
