we also call it verbal dyspraxia....my son has it. It's an awful condition because everyone thinks that your child is retarded

hello. im doing my college essay on my past experience with oral verbal dyspraxia and i just want to let you know that i was not able to speak either until about the age of 5 also. After intense speech theropy up until the age of 12 i am proud to say i am speaking normally and am the senior class president of my grade and nominee for homecoming king. idk if it helps to hear from somone whos had it but there is hope for your son to live a normal life. god bless

Awsome video thanks heaps for posting! Would you consider putting the term "verbal dyspraxia" in the tags also as thats what we call it here in australia and it would be a shame if people didnt see your video just cuz they searched dyspraxia rather than apraxia if you know what I mean? Also, may I ask at what age was your son Diagnosed and when did he start speech therapy?

Lucieann21.. thanks for the comment. I will add the tag for you! My wife and I knew Ben had Apraxia at 2 1/2 years old but did not get an official 'diagnosis' until he was age 5. The difference was we were trying to get it from a speech therapist (he started at 2 1/2 with therapy) and we got the actual diagnosis after only 10 minutes with a developmental pediatrician.
