whats the difference in mic-ing between a KickPort and just a hole in the head? I'm worried the KickPort will flop around on the resonent head and is not worth the extra money. SELL ME KICKPORT!!!

it's not even three minutes!!! it's awesome!!!

@MSvideoman - Thank you very much for your message. And yes, we have had great responses from people using the KickPort on 18" and even 16" kick drums!

If your playing a 20x22 kick would this not make it too boomy? being fairly large would a port with a tune length of the kickport make you loose some of the response of a sealed 20x22?

I just put one in my Cajon....OMG! I love it!

would this fit into the back of a cajon? and would it give the same results?

@unrealerror404. We have a Cajon-Port coming out in June or July 2010 which is a specially designed unit for the Cajon. It sounds amazing. We have put kickports into cajons in which they fit and it does sound really good! The new Cajon-Port gets more low end....

I have a PDP head that already has a hole in the reso side. Are these retrofitted to work on drum heads with pre-existing holes in 'em?

the KickPort works in a 5 to 5 1/2" hole. We provide a 5 1/4" ring the kickport that sticks on the head and the user can cut our the interior which is easy. Many pre-cut drum heads have 5" holes so we recommend putting our ring around the hole and cutting out excess. If smaller hole, you would need to cut out to at least 5" - if bigger (6"hole) we recommend using two rings and sticking them on the inside and outside of the head so two stickky surfaces meet.

i heard that you shouldn't have a plastic ring at the edge of the resonance head..
is that right?
because you guys have one....

We recommend placingt the ring halfway between center and rim. I think that in the installation video, it was closer to the rim than we usually do. However, the sound of this kickdrum without the KP is really good and great with the KickPort!
