internet sharing in ubuntu 11 - xbox 360 - ps3

just a quick video to show how to set up a internet share in ubuntu, i use this for my xbox 360 so i dont have to buy a wireless adapter but it can be used for anything as long as it needs uses a ethernet connection

Sorry maybe I didn't make myself clear when your pc is connected to the Internet the xbox must be connected directly to that pc via ethernet unortunately you can't string Internet from pc - pc - xbox sorry for any inconvenience

Nearly there now the xbox says Error acquiring ip :( just to check using network cable that comes with xbox should be ok? Or try an ordinary rj45 cat cable? Any settings to change xbox side or should auto suffice? Sorry for all the questions.

@zandorius im using the standard cable that came with the xbox should be a grey colour and its a rj45 crossover cable no settings need to be changed unless you've altered them previously does the internet work on your pc with this setup ? check the settings again did you save them or cancel ? as far as im aware it should work it does on mine

Looks easy, does the ubuntu machine still have internet access at same time xbox is plugged in?

@DO5K1 he means like your laptop is running on wifi or wireless connection and then from there he wants to bridge that to the xbox Wireless-Computer-Xbox

This ALMOST worked, obtaining the IP Address worked but when it comes to validating internet connection, it fails to connect? I tried to take the pppoe route as that was in the troubleshooting list but it just became complex there after. Some help and insight knowledge would be greatly appreciated

i noticed this created several iptable rules...any idea how to do this via iptables shell without network-manager?...i just want to use a different netmask

Got it working had to untick the needs ip4 addy before connecting switch then it worked. Oh and its going xbox to netbook which is connected via wifi to router. All now works :)

@DO5K1 well the laptop connects to the internet via my router just fine. Its a fresh install of ubuntu all ive done is run the updater and then followed guide ie edit the eth0 to share with other computers. Rebooted and ubuntu is still saying share with other computers and connecting to the router ok. Unfortunatly the xbox is in my neighbours house (which picks up my wifi just fine :) ) so i cant get to the xbox for another hour or so, might be him doing something wrong lol.
