What evidence supports the existence of God?

Why are we here?

What is life all about?

These questions are as old as the human race.

So how are we to answer them? Can they be answered at all? Might God be part of the answer?

In Aug 2008, Imam Shabir Ally visited San Franscisco Bay Area to conduct a da`wah training session with the local WhyIslam volunteers and community members. The program was titled "The Challenge of Da`wah - One message, many forms". This is the first part of the session.

Shabir Ally holds a B.A. in Religious Studies from Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario, with a specialization in Biblical Literature, and an M.A. in Religious Studies from the University of Toronto with a specialization in Quranic Exegesis.

He is now in his third year of PhD studies in Quranic Exegesis at the University of Toronto.

Shabir is the president of the Islamic Information & Dawah Centre International in Toronto where he functions as Imam.

He travels internationally to represent Islam in public lectures and interfaith dialogues.

He explains Islam on a weekly television program called 'Let the Quran Speak'.

@mrpayne123 Just because u r born into a "religious" family does not necessarily mean automatically u are on the right path. It is only through reasoning, however degree it maybe, we accept or reject concepts of God n meaning of our existence n purpose of life.

Why doesn't God speak to everyone directly, is a good question, but it is logically posterior to the existence of a Creator who created all that begun to exist. Even if God doesn't speak to u like He did with Moses (p) He may still exist.

I am agnostic and an atheist, Shabir doesn't seem to understand the spectrum of atheism from weak to strong. Many things trouble me about theism, why did God set up religions so that you defer to your parents' or culture's religion? Many people have no real free choice of religion, if they do it is only between a couple and they must fight through their childhood indoctrination to change.

Why doesn't God speak truth to everyone's heart rather than hoping they our born into the right family?

seriously? a human being is your god? how is that so when he was born and soon will die like a regular human? how did he create mankind when he wasnt alive even thousands of years ago? how is that possible?
