Simple video on how to clean the thermal paste from a intel heatsink and cpu. All other sockets are the same. Use the highest percentage alcohol or Artic Clean to remove the paste fully.

  • i've had problems getting all the pins to anchor on intel coolers with 4 push mounts. I find the final one will never anchor and i'm affraid to apply to much pressure as i dont wanna crack the board. Is there a specific order they are ment to be pressed down in

  • @1982FMJ You should attach the across from each other first then the others the same way. Kinda like you would a car with 4 lugs or bolts on it. Star type of pattern and put you hand under the board to support it. As long as you ground yourself you will be fine.

  • bad audio!!

  • @quackycac Sorry working on getting good camera for better quality.

  • oh god i'm so stupid i used paper towel to clean but at least the computer i was playign around with is broken :P

  • @justinkid10 It will not hurt it just wont be as clean as lint free.

  • i use beer to clean mine

  • @dietydevil think of the two metal surfaces (cpu and heatsink) as two very bumpy surfaces. when they both come in contact they are not completely touching. the thermal paste fills the microscopic gaps between the two metals to transfer the most heat. and cool the cpu.

  • I'm surprised no one has tried removing paste with a razor blade.

  • i only have 50% alcohol and its not working.

  • it is too bad video record

  • I recommend not using a towel... use a cotton 'q-tip' with 80%+ alcohol. The reason why you don't want to use a tower is 1) It may leave lint / lint particles 2) it creates static electricity if you accidentally rubbed a dry part over the motherboard and damage parts.

if you use a cotton 'q-tip', it has a smaller surface, reduces the chance of static electricity, and you are more 'gentle' on the hardware. This is just my opinion - I would rather be a little more cautious when it comes to ESD

  • Not the best camera quality, but it doesn't matter, you showed what needs to be done. Thanks!

  • Go into your local Boots and ask for a small bottle of Acetone. They'll probs not want to sell you it unless you explain what it is for. Only costs a quid.

  • use coffee filters to clean with, they r lint free

  • very bad video and audio and tutorial

  • Why not just drink the alcohol? Thats fucking stupid!

  • WHY DIDNT I SEE THIS BEFORE I GOT IT ALL OVER MY HANDS
