REPORT: James Tanis has recently been elected president of the autonomous region of Bougainville. His challenge is to lead the little island into a new era after a bloody ten-year civil war. But some are wondering if the 44-year-old is up to the task.

  • i applaud you Mr President. Bouganville must secede from Papua New Guinea. PNG does not have a history of looking out for its own and the sooner people realise this the better. However the Mine must be reopened. The onus is on you now to ensure that the issues that caused the deaths of thousands of people are properly resolved before the mine is reopened.
