Was it the Church or men that caused grief to humanity during the dark ages? If the blame is on man, then that means that the Church (Body of Christ) is perfect. If it was the Church, not men, then that means that Christianity is guilty of crimes against humanity, Spanish inquisition, Luther's writings which influenced Hitler's final solution, small pox infected blankets given to native Indians, David Koresh, Jim Jones, etc... Protestants and Catholics are in it together. Who is more guilty?

The great Apostle to the gentiles wrote a lot of things regarding deeds, works and behaviours. But to clarify the issue, he clearly stated in Romans 4:5- "But when one does not work, but has faith in him that justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness". Sola fide.

@Dialetical79 you are wrong "These are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name" (John 20:31)"I commend you because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions even as I have delivered them to you" (1 Cor. 11:2).
Mt 5:16
Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.

You have it all wrong. Luther is in heaven. Benedict is headed for hell, poor man, and dragging millions along with him. Tragic.

Yes, cebuano, the bible mentions traditions.or as translated in the KJV "ordinances". These would be the Lord's supper and baptism mainly. Good works cannot save us but faith and works. We are justified by faith and then do good works which show our faith and obedience.
