Hi Tony i was at green lane from Feb 69 till Aug 71 then at Walton, was on the back, Till September 69 then got my driving license the bus I learn t to drive with, was A19.I to had many happy days at G/L I hated Walton I was booked in on the 24 rd Commonly known as the magic roundabout we did 8 round Trips trips hated it. I've,come a long way since them days As a coach driver been all over Europe and was a coach driver in the USA from 92 till 2008

I was a driver at green lane dep and can remember driving this bus on Many occasions these were the first bus's to have\ power steering The cab was so high it was like steering from the top deck I believe that 501 was at green lane as well

does anybody have any footage of the first 32 Atlantans to be delivered to Liverpool cpt .i think it was 1963/64 and a few of my m8s and myself went to see if we could get a first look at them in edge lane garrage. my m8s leaft after about an hour or so but i got in to see them in the sheds there....... there was also a tram in there under repare

To Scouserden - L501 was at Green Lane for a while, but the last two of these Atlanteans, L509 and L510 bowed out at Green Lane in 1981. When I went on the road (also at Green Lane) in 1983, my training bus was 1111. By then there were only a few Jumbos still in service, Green Lane had 1208, 1209 and 1212. I drove at Green Lane from 1983 until 1987. Happy days....

To skyestheword - two of those old Atlanteans (L501 & L835) should be running at the Woodvale Rally this weekend, 7/8 August, and on the MTT Running day, 12 Sept. The tram you saw in the works was 245, now at the Birkenhead Tram Museum. How did you get in to Edge Lane in 1963? Your profile tells me you were only born in 1981!!! LOL

It was the last bus delivered to LCPT in November 1969, but was the first to enter service for MPTE in early December 1969. It was allocated to Green Lane and made its debut on the 510 Limited Stop (Prescot-Pier Head). By 1983 it was a training bus and I practised on it before going on the road myself in November 1983 (also at Green Lane). It will be running on the Merseyside Transport Trust Running Day on Sunday 21 September 2008.
