And the more psychology and physiology I studied, the more I realized that the very nature of the god I believed in also fit exactly with what you would expect if people invented god rather than the other way around.

I believe that is why religions have such a strong hold on humans: because they fit perfectly with our human psyche and that makes it almost impossible to see them objectively. But, it also doesn't make them true.

I guess it all depends on how badly you want to know the truth. If, as you say, what you believe is true to yourself, then fine.

The simple fact for me was that the more I studied science the more I realized that the Bible was not true. The more I studied human psychology the more I realized that the Bible was exactly what you would expect when written by primitive supersticious tribes.

I think that looking to the validity of the Creation of Man and it's telling in the Bible is a good as anything else i have heard. I don't see a reason to question or look at anything else.
I look at other views, other faiths objectively but not to the point where i am wondering if my faith is correct. I have never been given a reason nor have I come across one to disagree with it. I guess I have always thought that if what is being believed is true to oneself, than why should I question it.

That's my point. Since you DO believe in God's existence, then looking to him for answers about his existence isn't really questioning your beliefs.

Other places to look for answers are things like questioning if what is written in the Bible is actually true or actually happened (without using the Bible itself to determine the truth of it). For example - looking at the creation story in Genesis and examining whether it fits with reality.

Where else do you expect me to get the answer about this then?! I mean, who knows it better?
Remember, I DO believe in Gods existence and would never think otherwise. I believe that God IS the creator and that He would have the answers I am looking for.

When you question your belief in something you can't look to the thing you believe in for the answers

That would be analogous to someone who believes in Santa Claus saying: "I do question my belief in Santa Claus and Santa Claus is faithful and reveals answers and truth to me." You can see that this is not truly questioning your beliefs

I gave you an example the other day - about questioning whether you would be a Christian if you knew there was no afterlife. You can't get that answer from god

I do question my faith, I believe that is the only way to learn more about it. But, not to the degree that I am willing to leave it. I look for answers, for truth and God is faithful to reveal them to me. In his time and His way. It may be through another person or through His word or incidents in life but it is my faith in that gets challenged and at the end of it, strengthened.

My position is not that I will never change my mind. However, I will only change my mind if there is evidence to support a change.

I'm not asking you to abandon your relgion because one man left it. What I'm asking you to do is to question your faith, and to understand that someone who is not willing to question what they believe is hard to take seriously.
