My mother's family is from thailand and they're muslims so I spent most of my childhood there and I can say that the people are wonderful and very peaceful. You shouldn't judge all muslims or people of any other faith just because there are some extramists that abuses the religion. And Islam came to thailand in the 13th century with arab traders and not just the malays which means that many muslims there also have arabic ancestry. About 10% of the people in thailand are muslims.

Thailand has many Muslims, mostly in the south. The Muslims in the 'deep south' are ethnically, linguistically, and culturally distinct from those further north as they are ethnically Malay and speak an obscure dialect of Malay sometimes called 'Yawi' (Thai) or 'Basaw Nayoo' (Malay dialect) as their first language. Buddhists, Muslims, and ethnic Chinese lived very peacefully together in the early 1990s. It's a true shame that this beautiful area is now embroiled in violence.
