People just cannot think clearly. What did Christ teach? What did He say?
Mat. 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
And by 'Hell' Christ means 'hell fire':
Mat 13:40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.
How do we know it means 'completely destroy the soul'?

Oh man... Old Testament folk were not revealed the truth about "the grave", but they were told it was not eternal. There are plenty of references of consciousness after bodily death: Souls under the Altar or God: the Rich man: etc. How else are the dead to HEAR the gospel before judgement day? Any theology that does all it can to CUT man's chances short are lies. God's atonement covers everyone. BUT, God holds each ''responsible'' to hear and know Jesus and he's got eons to wait until all do.

Moreover, there are verses in the bible that state that the dead know nothing and Jesus liken it to a deep sleep. When you sleep, time does not exist so you will seem like you died and went straight to Judgment, but everyone will be there, even Adam and Eve. Jesus liken this death unto sleep because both the saved and the wicked will be resurrected and awarded or punished according to their deeds. Read John 5:28-29. I fear the current teaching is a little too close to purgatory teaching.
