@silentdepths 250-300 popsicles. Buy extra, though, because there are usually a good number of warped sticks in a box which you won't want to use.

Also, If you use hot glue, you don't need to be concerned about the water when you paint. This is very cute and I think I will have to make one. I love collecting vintage bags and this is a shoe in for a tramp art bag. a few flowers, some rhinestone's and make it your own.
