  • the dumb fuck started in 2nd gear

  • @nightfox1965 A Skyline r34 isn't just "ANY" car...

  • go R1:)

    gotta respect GTR

  • the skyline has onther parts witch makes the car faster than the original

    the R1 is original.

I said "Acceleration is equal to the power ratio to mass allowing for traction, air resistance and other factors"

Allowing for - means I accept there are these other factors.

However acceleration is fundamentally dependant on on MASS and POWER. I have assumed the driver and rider are equal at their respective tasks. But the difference between a good driver and a mediocre driver/rider is measured in fractions.

Traction issues go in favour of the car as do air drag issues

  • As I see it a stock Yamaha R1 even if ridden by a 220lb rider is still a 600hp/tonne

machine. Therefore in “real terms”, untouchable in acceleration terms by any stock car currently available.

However, that Skyline is NOT stock in the same way a fueler drag car is not stock.

  • besides the blue spoiler, I LOVE the way that skyline looks!

  • @EucalyptusTip

    It's not that simple.

You're forgetting air resistance and tire resistance.

And also the driver of either vehicle plays a considerate role

It doesnt come down to just power. sure it plays a big role but you cant count the other things out. especially at higher speeds.

  • Amendment II

Now I have read that the Skyline R34 weighs 1400 kg

which when adding a driver makes it 1450kg.

So that shits on my 1000hp 1 Tonne assumption.

Using these new figures means our 1000hp Skyline ihas a power to weight ratio of 0.69hp per kg ()690hp per Tonne) The R1 therefore needs at least 173hp to be as quick as the Skyline.

As stated below a Standard R1 has 150hp therefore will be SLOWE than this car.

  • Amendment...

I have been informed that the R1 Yamaha has a wet weight of 200kg. Allowing for a rider being 50kg (with clothes, boots etc) and working on the R1's total all up weight being 250 kg i.e.0.25 Tonne and not 350kg the power the R1 needs to be as quick, are lower than stated.
