Totally Awesome Man is an animated project started in December of 2006 consisting of 2 episodes. Episode 1 was mostly finished, while the second one never saw the light of day and remains unfinished. For that reason, a good chunk of episode 2 will not make sense.
This was my first serious attempt at animation... so what the heck was Totally Awesome Man about?
Well, the concept behind this series were that there were superheroes and supervillains who used to battle eachother from day to day, which earned them both revenue.... well, actors of superheroes and supervillains anyways.
As time went on, it became less profitable for both parties to play the part of hero and villain, so what was there left to do? Simple, get a new job. The characters in the show never really had any superpowers but they still insist on wearing costumes.
This was actually a parody on the fact that i've held so many different jobs over the years, which range from cashier to road trafficker to office work to food service to etc. etc. etc. etc.
Anyways, I planned that on every episode after the first, the characters would all remain in the cast, and the only thing that would change was their workplace (so, in the case of episode 2 it was an office setting).
I never finished this because I just became uninspired after a while and 2d animation for me is very tedious, even with the benefit of sophisticated programs like Flash CS3. I didn't like the idea of using "tweens" because it never looked right to me, so I insisted on frame-by-frame animation.
That's about all I have to say about the series, in essence it was just one gigantic learning project that I enjoyed working on for quite some time but eventually, the lure of 3d animation was too great to ignore. Were I a faster 2d artist, this project would still be going to this day.
