@spriteofbones Are we thinking of the same Lebel? The POS French rifle? Sure, it was innovative for about 4 years, and then Mauser and Lee Enfield took their design, improved the balls off it, and issued them. The Lebel was, and is, garbage.

The British and Argentinians had the same weapon yet the British won almost every gun battle. Just shows training and experience are what really matters.
