Alain English, actor/writer/performance poet, does his scary stuff at the March edition of AD-LIB Entertainments in the Comedy Cafe in London.

Eccentric, neurotic, romantic, Alain English originally comes from Aberdeen in Scotland. He has a Publishing Degree from Robert Gordon's University in Aberdeen and moved to London in late 2005 to train as an actor, an over-riding passion. On graduating he has been combining his twin passions of writing and performing on a regular basis and now turns his hand to writing and performing poetry.

He kicked off in late 2007 at the Rhythm Factory in Whitechapel and started performing all over London. In January he featured at the Rhythm Factory as a named artiste and had a poem "Release Yourself" published online at Oliver's Poetry. He won the Farrago Telegraph Slam (June 2008) and was a finalist at the Hackney Empire Spice Slams (July 2008).

Alain suffers from Asperger's Syndrome and his thoughts on this form the focus for much of the poetry he performs. His poems, reviews and articles on Asperger's Syndrome have appeared in Asperger United magazine (http://www.nas.org.uk/aspergerunited) as well as bulletins produced by Autism London (http://www.autismlondon.org.uk/publications/bulletins.htm).

He can be either funny or serious and his given his unique brand of poetic treatment to hot topics such as domestic violence and sexual deviancy, as well as political subjects like the Iraq War and the Israeli/Palestine conflict. His political poems have been placed on the website of A World to Win, an organisation campaigning on all fronts for radical social change: http://www.aworldtowin.net/resources/WhyPalestine.html.

He has made an appearance on YouTube with a quick poem about the recent Gaza massacre: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=oe1s9s6sBwI
