@decaporgel- Thanks for the family tree info on the Decaps and Mortiers !! I had heard the families had some common ancestors, but never found any info stating it. You have cleared up the mystery !! Thanks !!

For the record, Mortier NEVER owned the Decap buisness. Eventhough the Mortier organ building factory probably produced more organs compared to the business of the Decap Brothers in Antwerpen, Mortier didn't move fast enough with the new and modern taste of the audience... Decap brothers did and as a result, Mortier went belly-up in 1952, while Decap Brothers in Antwerpen is still in business today.

The Decap Brothers organ building business was founded by Alois Decap who was one of the five sons of farmer Livien Decap and his wife Sophie Mortier. Alois married Emma Verhaege, a daughter of Ludovicus Verhaege and Henrica Mortier. So both Alois Decap’s mother and mother-in-law were called Mortier. It is possible (but as far as i know not 100% sure) that there was a family connection with organ builder Theofiel Mortier, especially as he was born in the same region as Sophie and Henrica.

@Wurlitzer157 DeCap Family is not related at all.

Still need more time. Have decided to cut an access door thru the floor under the organ for easy access.
Hi 157--Sorry to pick on you !!! If there is a connection, I wondered if someone who worked for either company could give a first hand account. If you get in the Dayton,OH area and want to stop by, let me know. Along with the organs we have race cars and military vehicles you might find interesting.

Okay, I've heard that moriter owned Decap. But if that's incorrect.
They sure as heck make similar dance organs like this one.

I would like to know IF there is a connection between the Decaps and the Mortiers---From someone over 12 years old !!!!

@JimfromOH
I'm 12 and a half!
Ha ha ha.
But I really have heard that Moriter owned Decap at some point in time, I might be wrong though.
Plus some of their organs they made are very similar if not identical.
