Reviewing this & the other carcam which of the 2 would you recommend as I do a lot more night driving & would be really good to have that extra set of eyes as my witness if something did go wrong. & when will BBC or someone pick you up to do your own TV show

@HorseShit35 The other car camera I reviewed a year ago wasn't very good at anything, I wouldn't recommend that one at all. This one is a lot better at everything, but I'm sure that there are some cheaper and simpler models out there (I've only tested two). I'd suggest having a look through ebay for alternatives but stick to .h264 cameras rather than mjpeg and forget night vision cameras with IR LEDs on them - they just reflect glare back off the windscreen.

Hi there. It appears that this cam is fixed and one cannot turn the cam once it is fixed, is that true?

I'm looking for a cam with high quality video cam and came across the the review of this one and the crocolis on your blog. The nice thing about this one is in low light conditions you can still see some things. The crocolis appears useless in low light and the sound quality is pretty bad.

I have a question: I want to mount this thing to the back of my rear mirror, instead of on the windshield because in California, you can't mount anything on the windshield. Do you think it can do that? I think everything depends on the swivel on the mount, can the swivel rotate 180?

@openuniverse2003 As the economy continues to fall and more people are out of work, we may all need these here in the USA in the near future. I drive a truck all the time so the odds are higher for me. I have had 3 situations in the past 18yrs where people tried to set me up. Not bad considering how much time I'm out there, but a dash cam would have saved a lot of time and effort fighting the fraudsters.

@ThoughtfulGeek I have not been able to find any information about how to update firmware (or even where to get it). I'm quite impressed with this camera when it is working, but it crashes and stops recording quite regularly. Usually when it crashes it only corrupts the current file, but a few times it has destroyed every single piece of data on the card. I've tried 4 different cards and changed every setting... I'm fed up. Trying to return it but the only source is direct from china via ebay.
