This scene is from a pasticcio focussing on castrati: "Kastraten - Gesang nach Messers Schneide" (Castrati - Singing on a Knife Edge) was performed at the Handel Festival in Halle in summer 2009.
the scene is Casanova's nightmare about being castrated (after he fell in love with a castrato - who turned out to be a female singer in disguise...).
The music for this scene is an abridged version of Ravel's famous Bolero, arranged for baroque orchestra.
Hendrik Müller directed Tina Hartmann's oeuvre that combined music by Handel, Vivaldi, Monteverdi, Arne, Broschi, Purcell, Ravel, Stravinsky as well as pop songs. All musical arrangements by Barbara Rucha. Performers are Emanuele Peters, Conny Mews, Enrico Petters, Harald Höbinger and Gerald Thiede.
