This is the 22ton huskee from tractor supply and i wanted to upload a video to show people how powerful the splitters are. I just paid $1094 for this one and the 35 ton is $1894. I didnt see why to pay the extra money so i got the 22ton.. anyone that is thinking about buying a 22ton it should be all you will ever need.

Updated Information (12/15/2009)
This splitter does just fine for me. Last winter when i took the video i made $14,015 That is 84 loads which is 126 Cords i split last year and this season so far I have split 35 cords and this splitter is still running strong.
The purpose of the video was to show what this splitter could do THAT is why I was splitting such BIG Pieces. I dont normally split logs of that size, did it only for demo purpose. Thank you and hope this helps out because there was nothing out there when i was trying to see what these splitters could.

  • I would do the formula if i felt like i got ripped off but i dont. This splitter does just fine for me. Last winter when i took the video i made $14,015 That is 84 loads. That is 126 Cords i split last year and this year so far I have split 35 cords and this splitter is still running strong.

  • great vid, i believe if you hit the wedge with a grinder and made the leading part sharp, it will actually make it a lot easier, makes a big diff on the smaller splitters.

nice lil machine, works pretty good for its size.

  • Since this vid i have hit the wedge with a grinder and yes it does make a difference. Thanks

  • the 35 t would have been better :)

  • Nice video. I wish I had one of those things. was that Oak you were splitting?

  • Thanks for the video. was not sure which one to buy, the Troy-Built 27 ton for $1500 or the Huskee for $1099. After seeing your video, the Huskee is all i need. You can easily weld a bigger base plate if you need it. Thanks.

  • Thanks for the info!

  • As far as the base is concerned anything can be modified in a way that can be undone in case of warranty issues, just have to know how to weld a1/2" plated steel with some nubs on it. The wedge is also removable and could have a larger wedge mounted. The only thing about these are they are only an 8 Gallon per minute cycle rate, however it still moves right along...I can't think of any reason..Honestly why I would need a bigger splitter, the only real difference is the frame & Cylinder Size.

  • Comment 2. They say number three is the charm and thats about how it went, I exchanged the Kinetic/SpeedPro back down to another 22 ton HUSKEE at T.S.C...This things will tackle just about anything in the vertical, which is a great advantage to those homemade splitters that cannot do so. I Honestly was splitting the Biggest Green Poppel I've ever seen, 4-5 Ft Diameter in the vertical, of coarse we sawed the rest down to make it easier. The only time u may have a problem is wet stringy knots.

  • Comment 1. I decided to buy the 22 ton Huskee splitter. The first one I brought home was a nightmare, the E unit or Hydraulic unit on the top spewed fluid everywhere. I took it back to the store right away, they were very good about it and offered to replace it but a salesman convinced me to try the new Kinetic/Mechanical Speed Pro type with a 2 sec split time. That thing you needed a flack jacket on and shattered more than split, than the main gear stripped in 3 weeks, again back to the store!

  • Honestly if I was going to spend the money to buy a spliiter (which I should my backs pretty worn out from using the old school maul) I would have to get one where you lay the log down and the thing pushes it through the wedge, this just looks like to much of a hassel, and like you said not much of a base makes it harder for those bigger logs. Nice video though.

  • I have the same splitter and this is my third year using it. I have yet to find a log it won't split. Those logs he is splitting are hudge. When I run into something that size I usually split it into smaller sections then split the rest in the horizontal position. I think it was a good buy.

  • @oscarfish48 Wouldn't even think of it!! I was referring to the way he has to wrestle with those rounds to keep them in the splitter, and then try yo pry the sections apart. Vertical splitters are a killer on your back. I've been at this racket for 40 years....give me a horizontal unit any day!
