AUSTIN (KXAN) - Every first Saturday of the month, a growing group of supporters gathers on the Texas Capitol's south lawn. This Ron Paul revolution winds down Congress Avenue, through Downtown Austin.

"Awesome," Tracy Scott exclaimed, as she tagged along with the crowd of 50 or so. "This is the biggest group that we've had since I've been marching."

It was Scott's third time to travel two hours south from the Waco area. For this march, this veteran brought a 10-year-old activist-in-the-making. Her grandson, Jaylan, is starting early, already spreading word about the Texas congressman.

"He's never voted to raise taxes," Hilton said, holding his own "Ron Paul 2012" sign. "He'll end the Fed and the IRS."

"He actually corrects his teachers when they tell him the wrong information about the [U.S.] Constitution or the government's role or what not, so I'm real proud of him for that," Scott said.

Since the summer, their presidential candidate has soared to become one of the top contenders in the race. Ahead of Tuesday's New Hampshire primary, the latest Suffolk University poll shows Paul in second behind former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

"When I see that there's a loss of freedom, economic freedom, personal liberties, at some point people need to stand up and say something about it," said Rob Izor, marching alongside the others.

Through the Texas primary later this spring and perhaps the general election at the end of the year, Scott, her grandson and the rest of this group have pledged to keep Paul's message going strong.

"It's not tough," she said. "Give you plenty of endorphins to keep going."

  • @dellitoso Nah, don't come here it's way too hot in the summer and the Mexican food sucks. Oh and it is liberal, way liberal and statist.

  • Hmmmm, Ron Paul maybe should be governor of Texas, not the guy that doesn't even own his own house Rick Perry.

  • What do ya want to wager that Rick Perry stays in the race long enough to try and dent the Ron Paul vote in Texas. Republican thugs work that way, ya know. From unelectable to front runner, to hell with the current government, and the media whores.,

  • AMURICA!!!!! FUUU YEA!!!!!!
