http://wonkroom.thinkprogress.org/2009/12/02/dobbs-rips-obamas-copenhagen-com... 12/1/2009: Lou Dobbs and Inhofe want to make sure people know Obama isn't a king.
Inhofe: Let's look at the big picture. We have the Copenhagen meeting coming up in the middle of December. We now have learned the president has changed his mind again and President Obama will be attending around the 9th of December. It's my understanding that he will make the statement that he will commit ourselves to the emission standards that were in the Markey bill that passed the House of Representatives. I'm sure you've talked about that because that was several weeks ago. That's a 17% reduction in CO2 by the year 2020.
Dobbs: From 2005 levels.
Inhofe: Yes, that's correct. He can't do that. I just had an interview with a station in Copenhagen, in Denmark --
Dobbs: [laughter]
Inhofe: -- that they were all under the assumption the president could unilaterally do that. No, that's not true. In fact, one of my good friends, a Democrat senator, Jim Webb from Virginia has sent a letter to the president and I'm quoting a sentence out of it now: "As you well know from your time in the Senate, only specific legislation agreed upon in the Congress, or a treaty ratified by the Senate, could actually create such a commitment on behalf of our country."
So, we need to make sure -- and that's the main reason I was going to go to Copenhagen was to, if Barbara Boxer and John Kerry went there and made some kind of a commitment that we were going to do something, I wanted to make sure that countries were fully informed that we are not going to be passing legislation that will accomplish what President Obama I believe is going to tell on the 9th.
Dobbs: Senator, this begs the question if I may put it forward right now: Who the hell does this president think he is?
Inhofe: I dont know, because you can't do that. And I think it's certainly disingenuous to mislead countries into thinking that a president . . . You know, this is not a kingdom. He's not able to do that.
Dobbs: Not yet!
Inhofe: And we want to be sure that people realize that he cannot do that.
@honestann You done some research, did you? What was it?

Well, I think we absolutely can affect the temperature and I think the last several decades of climate data prove that out. Also, hydrogen fuel is not even close to being economically viable and may never prove to be so. Hydrogen fuel doesn't make itself. The process of refining and compressing hydrogen into fuel cells requires a lot of energy. If we don't trust nuclear, I think we're going to have to use a mix of solar, wind, natural gas, everything to meet our future energy needs.

@Pistakeerick The sun determines what our planet will do weather wise, sure we can pollute the air and water but I really don't believe we effect the temperature. The earth has gone through several ice ages and we were not here to effect the weather.
We have at our disposal the best of fuel and lots of it, it is called water and when we break it down, we get on H and 2 O and that is very strong power at our finger tips. It will last us forever all we have to do is use it.

Well, from what I've read & observed from 25 yrs of birding, our world is getting warmer. There's both good & bad news as a result. The bad news is that the earth is warming from our burning of fossil fuels, putting nature at risk. The good news is that this is temporary, since we will eventually run out of fossil fuels & the earth will cool down again. The bad news is that once the earth re-cools, we'll have no way to warm it back up & no fuel to get us through the cold winters. Brrr!!!

@justanoldman1: Then I guess I must be an idiot, because I was not certain global warming was a fraud before I performed my research. But now that I have done my research, it is clear that the current CO2 fraud is 99% pure politics.

@honestann Even the saharia was once green, temperature change all the time. Sure there is global warming but also global cooling, it is an on going thing.
To think we could change the weather is for idiots and green peacers.

@Shinimegami86
10 YEARS!!!! 10 years out of ~4.5 BILLION years of the Earth's history
How not statistically significant

You have no freaking idea what you are talking about. Even the most ardent global warming / CO2-alarmists admit temperatures have been cooling over the past 10 years! They even started a media, censorship project to "hide the decline".
Furthermore, even these same alarmists admit that many, many times in history the CO2 levels AND temperatures have been much warmer. You can read books written in the medieval warm period that describe much warmer/greener conditions far north. Get facts!
