I don't understand why this song was not a "hit." In the 1936 film "Colleen," Ruby Keeler sings the song because Dick Powell would rather be a musician than a dancer. She then performs an unusually long dance routine with legendary Paul Draper, who does not sing. The production number (by Bobby Connelly) was so good, the studio made a short subject out of it a few years later, overdubbing "Six Hits And A Miss." Performed on the Steinway "D" that belonged to composer Dana Suesse (1909-1987).
I love this song - I was singing it right along with you. May I say you play it and perform it beautifully....from a long time Ruby Keeler fan, thank you so much!
