In the past month, prices of vegetables in Kisii town have sky rocketed, forcing some traders to abandon the vegetable business. A sack of sukuma wiki for instance, sold at 300 shillings in December. Currently a similarly sized sack goes for 2,000 shillings.

  • Here we go again, it is that part of the year again where rains fails and now food shortage looms. Vegetables such as sukuma wiki do not need rain, a bit of irrigation is all it takes. How a hot desert country like Israel never lacks food is beyond me. Why can't we learn from what they do?
