I know this is an old video bu it is the BEST one that I can relate my own horse issues to...my old guy has the same feet...but maybe even worse since I'm just now learning how to trim him so he can grow down and grow back to a healthy hoof conformation! I LOVE THIS VIDEO! YOu might think about reviewing some of your older ones and revisit some of this cool old stuff. I would gladly help you if I was closer to KS! :) keep up the GREAT work...you have such a good soul.

Great Job explaining how to trim! You are an Excellent teacher!!! =)

@Nizingur yes, down flush with the sole surface like she has done here in the video.
The bars offer internal suppor to the hoof not external. As they over grow and lay over they will cause pressure and pain eventually. But no don't trim them deeper than sole level.
When you get more confident you don't have to peck at them like a chicken.
I feel she's being careful here as to demonstrate.

@semtech30 Really? You just cut the entire bar off? I've been pussyfooting around this majorly too, but I'm as of yet quite inexperienced. I've just trimmed his bars down and made them neater. But are you honestly saying you can just take'em off?

Heel goed maar alleen van de Top kan het niet want trimmen tot de witte lijn is niet goed want doen loopt het paard heel gevoelig

@DakotaRainy Gegroet, oude video, gekregen veel beter sindsdien. Ik ben verbaasd over deze vertaling, bij hoeveel woorden in het Nederlands zijn in het Engels.

@zoehannah1985 Hi and thanks. You need to trim the bars down to where you can see the white line pretty clearly and they are not touching the ground, they will taper down at an angle towards the frog. Remember the bars are really just the end of the hoofwall that comes around and V's, ending about mid point of the frog. So you clean them up to the sole in that area just like the hoofwall.

Hi
I love your videos you have been a great help to me and do not let those small minded old fashioned people dilute the magic you have dicovered.
I know who the horses would choose!!
