We can't judge a singer by the high not, and even they are different style of tenors, to make a compare with dramatic tenor and lyric tenor is fool. Mr Florez is a legero tenor with a most beutiful voice, he can sing all the high note easily, but he can't sing a dramatic aria. So do not campare them, just listen to the music. They work hard to give us a better world; just repect them, you will find your life is better.

You are right 100 percent! Jokingly, he self proclaimed to be "the king of high A's" when talking about his struggles with the high C i believe. But yeah your reasons are totally dead on and its one of the reasons why i love him so much.

Si bravo Carreras però stiamo parlando di una registrazione per un album musicale perche se ascoltate alcune registrazioni della Pira di Jose live nei treati fanno veramente pena poi stiamo parlando ti un tenore lirico-leggero che a causa della fama è diventato drammatico

@varaldoampelio34 è vero quello che dici. Certo, il ruolo di Manrico è troppo pesante per Carreras, come lo è per tutti i tenori lirici, o lirico-spinti. Io infatti penso che Manrico è un ruolo per i soli tenori drammatici. Però c'è da dire che, con tutte le lacune tecniche, Carreras aveva una voce stupenda!!! A me emozione sempre ascoltare la sua voce!!!! E quelli che dicono che non era un tenore, ma che imitava i tenori.....beh, non li calcolo ;) a presto amico!!!!!!! ;)

Perilous C's from Carreras. His voice sounds laboured in these ridiculously heavy roles anyway.

It was like everytime he hit a C in Tosca or Turandot. You felt he was moments away from collapse. Still a lovely passionate performance though.

@cavaradosi1 Since you asked in a decent way I'm gay but non-fem as to my remark about light tenors I was being sarcastic. Manrico is actually a singing role that has become a tenore di forza role despite the clearly bel canto content of the role--Deserto sulla terra, Ah, si ben mio, mal reggendo, ai nostri monti--are best served by a tenor versed in the art of singing like Tucker, Bjorling, or Bergonzi. Pavarotti in his prime, before show-biz concerts, was very good in the role.
