This intonation is EVERYWHERE; the piece is 99% unrecognizable (not to mention the completely butchered and improvised text). Poor audio equipment cannot answer for the missing words, sloppy phrasing, and the 5 different voices with which she sings here. This is just wild!
@boomchuckaboom He wouldn't have been,if the sound quality had not been so distorted on this video, and of such poor quality. In person she sounded 10 times better.
Montserrat Caballe and Marian Anderson are the two greatest singers of our present century. All recordings and videos of them are precious and should be preserved and as widely disseminated as possible, partly as models for younger singers, + to show their versatility.
This adequately shows how important Italian vowels are in singing largo. Although this song was written for a larger than life Latina to sing, it's clearly not in this woman's best repertoire but she is such a fine singer that she pulls it off. Listening to her vocalise is probably a pleasure, her accented English is balanced by the lovely vowels.
I usually love her voice. She is one of the best Puccini singers. She should avoid this sort of literature. My dog is tilting his head sideways with his ears up on this one.

@Lactoris1 I will agree with you on the part of Caballe being the greatest singer of our present century, and most likely any century.
