Tom Vellenga, from Heartland Democracy, talks about the importance of civic empowerment as a means to reach disengaged populations. The key is to ask questions and focus on how policy affects the student. Civic empowerment is a multipurpose tool that supports education and economy.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.
